Pat Sajak: Vanna and I did 'Wheel of Fortune' drunk

Pat Sajak admits he and Vanna White used to throw back a few margaritas while taping Wheel of Fortune.

Pat Sajak has been hosting Wheel for more than 30 years, and in a new interview on ESPN's Dan Le Batard Is Highly Questionable, he talked about how he and Vanna White would head over to a nearby Mexican restaurant in Burbank and drink during two-hour dinner breaks.

"Vanna and I would go across and have two or three or six and then come and do the last shows and have trouble recognizing the alphabet. They're really good tapes to get a hold of," Sajak said.

"We had a different show then. You didn't win money. You won fake money with which you could buy cheesy prizes," he explained.

Did it make the shows better or worse? "I had a great time. I have no idea if the shows were any good, but no one said anything, so I guess I did OK."

Now, says Sajak, 65, "If I were to inhale the cork of a bottle of wine, I'd probably keel over. I would be hesitant to have anything to drink now -- although I'm hammered at this moment."

lol,

This isn't news, but I think most people could tell you and Vanna were tipsy from time to time on the show.

I would think one would have to be drunk to do that show.

Oh the horror... just think, they were six degrees of separation from the big red button.

You have to give them credit though, especially Vanna, an entire career made of pointing at or turning letters... so if im counting right... Dec. 2012 will be her 30th year on nighttime WOF... amazing. unfortunately, i don't have her body, legs, smile, face to sell or her ability to do the same inane thing for that long without going completely mad.
